The story
Josh Brown is a Brisbane power hitter who turned a late start into one of the most destructive top-order games in the country. He grew up playing soccer and only picked up a cricket bat at 13. Within a few years he had gone from Brisbane grade cricket to the Big Bash.
He announced himself on New Year's Day 2023, smashing 62 off 23 at the Gabba in just his second BBL game, with a bat he had made himself, the "Bison." A year later he rewrote the record books: 140 off 57 in a Big Bash final, with a record 12 sixes and a hundred off 41 balls, then top scored in the decider as Brisbane Heat won the 2023/24 title.
A right-hand opener who clears the rope for fun, Josh now plays for the Melbourne Renegades and takes his power game around the world, from England to the Bangladesh Premier League, Nepal and Canada.
Off the field he is a bat-maker at Cooper Cricket in Brisbane, where he has repaired more than a thousand blades and crafts the very bats he bats with.
